Hefei Science and Technology Museum New Museum Project

The new building of Hefei Science and Technology Museum project is located in the Wangzui Lake Landscape Park in the western sub-center of Hefei city. It is not only a member of the park landscape system, but also a landmark node in the city. The plan uses the characteristics of the site, highlights the combination of ecology and artificiality, and expands the theme of "Science-Technology-Nature" in the Science and Technology Museum.

This scheme design begins with a deep understanding of urban design. Corresponding to the concession requirements of urban planning, combined with the sight corridor, the design focuses on creating open urban spaces that connect with the surroundings, while extending the urban space to the interior of the building. By adopting an architectural form that is as regular as possible, the plan adapts to the changing exhibition content of the Science and Technology Museum with flexibility and elasticity, and replaces the symbolic reflection of technology with rationality and functionality.

The building interior space is backboned by a three-dimensional spatial axis that runs through the north and south and rises layer by layer. The open urban space on the north side of the building and the public space inside form a continuous spatial corridor. All exhibition halls and rooms are distributed on both sides of the axis, with floors elevated and progressive.

A large number of solar photovoltaic power generation panels are employed on the building roof to reduce building energy consumption. At the same time, the afforestation roof is used for rainwater recycling. The building façade uses double-layer low-E glass, and the courtyard part uses glass skylights for natural lighting, with adjustable sunshade window curtain to achieve active energy saving. The application of a variety of green building technologies has also made the science and technology museum itself an important part of science and technology display.
