Chinalco Research Institute of Science and Technology—Phase I and Phase II

Chinalco Research Institute of Science and Technology is located in the Southern District of Future Science and Technology City, Changping District, Beijing. It is one of innovation and R&D institutions built by 13 central enterprises in the same period in the Future Science and Technology City.

The planning and design of Chinalco Research Institute of Science and Technology presents the planning structure with one axis, two centers and multiple stripes. The overall concept of the green axis runs through the entire content of the design, efficiently combines the three plots of land, meanwhile also meets the requirements of function and phased construction, and thereby forms an excellent space and landscape effect;

Architectural design combines traditional Chinese architectural forms, and simplizes and refines through modern design methods to highlight the combination of "platform and mainbody". Functionally, the building model of the platform and mainbody distributes its functions in a vertical structure, making the large and flexible public space relying on the "platform" and the relatively fixed and private space relying on the mainbody.

The concept of platform and mainbody not only forms a good spatial relationship between the mainbody of the surrounding buildings and the green axis, but also organically combines the traditional Chinese architectural space idea with the modern building volume and function.
